Meet our Crafters
Evelyn Taylor
My family has always been part of Kylemore. It’s a wonderful place to live, and I would not exchange it for anything. Nowhere else feels quite like Kylemore. Even so, we struggled financially when I was a child… life was very hard, especially after my father died when I was 13 years old. At 15 I had to go and work in the orchards to help my mother take care of my two younger brothers.
But I have always loved needlework, so when I found myself out of work due to ill health, Aunty Eva Williams came and asked me to join Imbali. Here I have learned so much and enjoy the company of the other women. The Imbali training courses give me the skills that now allow me to take craft orders for quilts and bags from family and friends. Luckily I have my own sewing machine, as I can never sit still… I always want to do something with my hands… even plaiting people’s hair for a hobby.
I love my life here with the people of Imbali. We are a fantastic team.
